🌏 My 3-Month English Study Journey at CIJ Academy & School, Cebu – From Anxiety to Growth
When I first arrived in the Philippines, I was filled with anxiety. It was my first time living alone in a foreign country, and everything felt unfamiliar – the weather, the culture, and the language. I even questioned whether I would be able to adapt to this new life.
However, after just one week at CIJ Academy & School, all my worries seemed to melt away.
🏫 First Impressions – A Warm and Friendly Learning Environment
From the moment I stepped into the dormitory, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and international students. The friendly atmosphere, sincere smiles, and wholehearted support from everyone quickly made me feel at ease.
The school is located in a quiet area of Cebu, away from the hustle and bustle—an ideal environment for focused learning. The facilities are quite modern, with clean air-conditioned classrooms, a quiet self-study room, and fully equipped dormitories.
🎓 1:1 Classes – The Key to My Rapid Progress
What impressed me the most at CIJ was the 1:1 class system. Every day, I had four one-on-one classes and two group classes. In the individual sessions, the teachers always customized the lessons to match my level—covering everything from pronunciation and grammar to speaking fluency and quick response training.
I was especially impressed with Teacher Melodie – she patiently corrected even the smallest pronunciation mistakes and helped me become more confident when speaking English. At first, I could only respond to simple questions, but gradually, I was able to take the initiative to have conversations, join discussions, and express my thoughts in English.
“The teachers here are not just instructors — they are also friends, listeners, and daily motivators who support and encourage me every step of the way.”
🌍 An International Environment & Wonderful Friends
CIJ brings together students from various countries such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Indonesia, and more. In this multicultural environment, we communicate in English not only during classes but also in our daily lives. This constant exposure has helped me practice and improve my English skills naturally every day.
There were friends I only met for a few weeks, but we quickly became as close as family. We shared meals, studied together, strolled around, went island hopping, sang karaoke, or simply sat and talked. Those moments have become beautiful memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
🍽️ Comfortable Daily Life and Delicious Meals
I used to worry about eating abroad, but at CIJ, I was served many familiar dishes—especially Korean cuisine. The meals were varied regularly and suited my taste very well.
The regular laundry and room cleaning services were also very convenient, allowing me to save time and focus on studying and relaxing.
🌴 Weekend – A Time to Relax and Explore
Weekends were a refreshing break filled with exciting adventures. I had the opportunity to travel to stunning islands like Bantayan, Virgin, and Camotes — where the sea is crystal-clear, the sand is powdery white, and the peaceful atmosphere melts all stress away.
We also organized BBQ parties, karaoke nights, and even meaningful volunteer activities in the Badjao community. These experiences not only helped me unwind after classes but also gave me a deeper understanding of Filipino culture and the lives of local people.

🗣️ Progress Beyond Language – A Journey of Personal Growth
Three months may not seem long, but it was enough for me to realize how much I had changed. From someone who was shy to speak, I became confident in communicating in English. From being reserved, I opened up, connected with others, and learned to understand people from different backgrounds.
“CIJ is not just a school – it’s where I grew, not only in language, but also emotionally and mentally.”
🎓 The End, But Not Really…
As my journey at CIJ came to a close, I left with a heart full of knowledge, unforgettable experiences, and precious memories. I know that my English still has room for improvement, but now I have the foundation and confidence to continue learning anywhere in the world.
More importantly, I’ve learned that studying abroad isn’t just about learning a language — it’s about learning how to live, how to empathize, and how to grow.
💡 If you’re looking for a quality English learning environment in the Philippines — a place where you can study, live fully, and grow as a person — then CIJ Academy & School is exactly where you should be.
