TEO_My 8-Week Journey at CIJ Academy & School – An Experience I’ll Never Forget
🌿 [My 8-Week Journey at CIJ Academy & School – An Experience I’ll Never Forget]
It’s hard to believe that eight weeks have already passed. My time at CIJ went by so quickly that I barely noticed it. It feels like just yesterday I was nervously stepping into the dormitory for the first time — and now here I am, looking back on each memory with a hint of nostalgia.
🍚 When it comes to food... I gave up on dieting!
When I first arrived, I was determined to study hard and… lose some weight!
But honestly, I gave up pretty quickly because the food here was just too good.
Every meal was well-balanced and satisfying — especially the Korean dishes, which tasted just like home.
The food was so delicious that I thought, “Forget dieting for now… let’s just enjoy this!” 😂
But on the bright side, ever since I came here, I’ve barely had any alcohol compared to before — so at least I didn’t gain too much weight! I guess everything balances out in the end.
📚 Serious Learning in a Relaxed Atmosphere
Every day at CIJ was structured and well-organized. The teachers were incredibly dedicated and friendly, which made learning English feel less stressful and much more approachable. Even on days when I felt tired from the busy schedule, their energy and passion motivated me to keep pushing forward.
I also learned something important: in the end, the results depend on me. CIJ provides a great learning environment, but how much I absorb and how far I improve all comes down to my own effort and attitude.
🏖 Weekends — A Time for Exploration
After classes, I had some truly memorable weekends.
Right from the first few weeks, I joined a trip to Camotes Island — a place where the emerald sea and lush green forests made everything feel calm and refreshing. I even swam inside a cave — a first-time experience for me, and definitely one I’ll never forget!
Then came the island hopping trip. Even though I’m not a strong swimmer, I pushed myself to try snorkeling — and it was actually so much fun!
After returning to campus, I started practicing swimming regularly in the school’s pool. It’s only about 160cm deep, which makes it perfect for beginners like me.
One of the most memorable experiences was the 4-day holiday trip to Bantayan Island.
Despite the challenges — like the scorching sun and the hassle of renting a motorbike — the stunning ocean views, sea breeze, and cool drinks in cozy indoor cafés made it all worthwhile.
It truly felt like hitting a reset button — a perfect way to recharge and get ready to study again.
🌆 Everyday Life Was Just as Enjoyable
Outside of class, I visited the night market near the school and tried various local street foods.
One day, I had the chance to visit a Bajau village — home to people who live in houses built over the sea.
The reality was quite different from what I’d seen on TV — less picture-perfect, more raw and eye-opening.
But that contrast made me appreciate my own life even more.
There was one time I got a bit sick from exhaustion, but thanks to some rest, medicine, and… the delicious food at CIJ, I recovered quickly.
Getting sick while living far from home can feel really lonely, so I’d definitely recommend future students to bring some basic medicine with them — just in case!
☕ And the Little Joys Along the Way
Right next to the school is a cozy little café — my go-to spot whenever I needed to relax. The coffee was tasty, affordable, and just a minute’s walk away, so there was no need to go far.
Oh, and there were a few super cute cats on campus too — seeing them always lifted my mood.
💬 Final Thoughts
Now that I only have a few days left before leaving, I feel a mix of gratitude and a bit of sadness. I’ve met new friends, said goodbye to some who finished their courses, and welcomed others into class — all of which became unforgettable parts of my journey.
Even though I didn’t accomplish everything I had originally hoped for, I know for sure that I’ve grown — in my English skills, in how I live more independently, and in how I see the world.
If you’re still wondering where to study English, I sincerely recommend giving CIJ a try. Here, you don’t just study — you truly live, grow, and enjoy the experience.
